Yakima brewery recognizes work of migrant workers

[Antonio Valencia, originally from Mexico, recently enjoyed a beer at Bale Breaker Brewing Co. in Yakima. For more than 20 years, Valencia has crossed the border from his native Michoacán to work in the hop fields in the Yakima Valley.

But this day he was not working; he was celebrating the special edition of Mango IPA beer, an exclusive brew that honors the contribution of migrant laborers who come to work every year in the hop fields.

The craft beer, typical of this region of the country and with mango flavor, was born as an idea of a business alliance between Mexican and American brewers. The merger, called “Migrant Sessions,” includes a series of unique beers and the participation of Mexican breweries Cervecería de Colima and Cerveza Loba de Guadalajara, and American breweries Ronin Fermentation Project of California, SouthNorte and Bale Breaker..
