COVID-19 Update: Bale Breaker Brewing Company’s taproom is temporarily closed to the public, but we are running weekly 12-5pm Saturday Drive-Thrus. Visit our blog for this week’s menu.
ALS. A debilitating disease that claims a life every 90 minutes. And one that hits too close to home at Bale Breaker.
Since 2013, Bale Breaker, together with Loftus Ranches and Yakima Chief Hops, along with hundreds of participating breweries around the world, has raised more than $2.5 million for ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI) through our “Ales for ALS” movement, an international fundraising campaign, started by us here in Yakima, dedicated to finding a treatment/cure for ALS.
The man who inspired the program, our beloved uncle Scott “Bubba” Hanses, unfortunately lost his courageous nine-year battle with ALS in March. This Saturday will be our first Ales for ALS annual kickoff without him and, due to COVID-19, our first time not throwing a party in his honor. We were looking forward to celebrating his life, along with all the millions of lives affected by ALS, however, we’ve decided to commemorate this poignant year by canning Bubba’s Brew for the first time ever. For every can sold, $1 will be going to ALS TDI to help #endALS. We will also be collecting additional donations via cash or check, or we encourage you to click here to donate directly to ALS-TDI. Together, we are making progress, pint by pint.
Join us this Saturday, June 27, 2020 from 12-5pm for the release of these commemorative 16oz. 4pks at our contactless drive-thru. We'll also have our 2020 Ales for ALS t-shirts for sale, @Hoptown_Pizza will be in attendance and donating $1 for every pizza sold to ALS-TDI, and @CLS_Farms is setting up shop with another fruit pop-up, donating $1 to ALS-TDI for each bag of fruit sold. It may not be the event you're used to, but we promise it'll be an amazing day at the drive-thru.
Cheers to Bubba, and thank you for supporting our continued effort to #endALS!
