Every President’s Day weekend, Yakima Valley wineries roll out the romantic red carpet, pairing fine wine and chocolate all weekend long. Wine and chocolate go together like malt and hops, but this weekend we’re also serving up our preferred pairing: barrel-aged beer & chocolate. So take a breather from all the wine you’ll be drinking and swing by our taproom to cleanse your pallet with the release of two new barrel-aged beers.
About the beers:
Wood & Wire Imperial Stout is a taproom favorite (and WA Beer Awards two-time bronze winner!) that we’re thrilled to finally have bottled so you can enjoy it in the comfort of your own home. And trust us – you’re going to want to get cozy to drink this one. This beer is not for the faint of heart, with tasting notes of coffee, dark chocolate, smoke, bourbon, and vanilla. Come on in and try it today, perfectly complimented by a piece of dark chocolate. This Imperial Stout utilizes 10 different malt varieties for complexity, then we balanced that beast with Simcoe, Palisade, and Ahtanum hops. Aged 3 months in Jameson Whiskey Barrels.
If you’re looking for something a little bit more delicate, Exquis Belgian Blonde Ale is the beer for you. In French, exquis means “delicious” or “exquisite” - not to toot our own horns, but the name perfectly matches this beautiful light ale. Fittingly to be releasing this weekend, Exquis was aged in Yakima Valley wine barrels for 14 months, with Brettanomyces clausseni wild yeast. With a crisp-like acidity and aromas of champagne, grapefruit, pineapple, and gooseberry, this beer will bring some sunlight into your winter.
We’re not ones to just release a beer with no fan-fare – so join us tonight for a release party that’s all about reclaiming this silly Hallmark Holiday and just having a damn good time. We’re throwing our first ever “Singles Night Out” in the taproom – with a theme that would have made your middle school heart go a-flutter: STOPLIGHT PARTY! Come dressed in colors that show off your relationship status:
There will be a kissing photo booth, Valentine’s to send to your crush across the taproom with help from our very own Cupid, and, of course, barrel-aged brews a-plenty. All weekend long, you can grab a bottle to go for $15, or a bottle to open in the taproom for $20 (we suggest you share with a friend if you’re opening one of these up). We also have kegs of these beers (non barrel-aged) that you can grab on draft.
Dress up, grab a friend or two, and don’t miss out on these new releases!
